I'm going through some of the same feelings now and i'm 27. I too only see work/hobbies/girls in the future......the same shit every day over and over.

I'm currently trying to find strategies that can help me deal with these emotions because I realize that I'm just depressed.....especially since I just ended a 7 year relationship with my girlfriend.

    Love. Work.

Freud said that these two things are all a person needs to be truly happy.
Set yourself to find both love and work that is truly meaningful, truly beautiful, truly inspiring to you.

Boring work and shitty, insipid hobbies don't excite...ya sounds about right to me.
Find out what does excite you.

Love. Work. Exercise (since work is often now non-manual).

For me its: Woman (man?), Interesting Work, BICYCLE!

You're 18. You don't know anything about what is out there. So of course you're bored. Find stuff that excites you.

Or: DON'T. And do whats expected of you. Then wake up at 40 and realize you haven't lived a single day for yourself. Contemplate suicide. Have a "mid-life crisis." Divorce your wife. Leave your kids. Start fucking 19 year old head cases. Quit your job. Start doing drugs. End up living in an alley.

    I tell you, I've seen it a 100 times...

Know a guy who works IT computers, and does base jumping in his spare time, never heard him complain about being bored. (dangerous tho so don't sue me later on that)

I think that although diverting, stimulating adrenalin doesn't provide deep meaning into one's life.

Eventually, there'll come a time when you want more, something deeper. Something beyond gratiating your own desires.

    But to each his own.

    feeling bored??

    quick tip:

spin around in circles five times, bob your head, while screaming really loud ...

    repeat until boredom fades!!

seriously, dude, what are your hobbies, anyways?? maybe you need to get more into them; if it is games, maybe you should look into joining a club or something, where you can compete, and meet people with same interests in your area ...

    anyways, man ...

reply back: what are your hobbies??

    :wavey:

(maybe you just need some more learning ...)

You're missing the other 70 or so years of life experience. Life is what you make it man. You set yourself up for a boring ass life, thats pretty much what you're gonna have. What's cool about life, is that you can do whatever the fuck you want with it. It's yours. Move to another country! Go ride a elephant in Zimbabwe... whatever. At your age, you can't do jack because you're only starting off, but you should definitely be looking forward to a lifetime of doing what you enjoy to do.

I could write a book about the things I love to do in life, which keeps me going to see whats next... and trust me, work and hobbies really aint on that list really...

Most of it doesn't cost a dime, but does cost time, and thats really the only thing you can't control in life, because its ticking away every single day... all you can do is make the most of it until your time is up.

I know a few people here agree with me.... travel. Each year aim to go someplace you've never been before. If you target someplace out of the country even better.

In my experience there is no better mind-fuck then going to another country and seeing how shitty or good they live. You then come back full of ideas and a whole new perspective on what you have. It's an addiction. Each time I come back from one country I start planning somewhere else already....

Backpack...stay in hostels....join the Red Cross.... find a job for the Summer on cruise liner or airlines... find a way.

    wow!!

    a basketball fan, hey??

how many players can you name, and how many can you flash off your personal picture with??

I will agree with you, that women do some stupid shit, but doesn't everyone?? have you ever done some stupid shit dude??

and you can look back and just laugh your head off at??

your problem with having a kid or getting married is a long term thing, and isn't really a solution, but a problem.

ask any person who is married, and you will probably find that a lot of them didn't really plan on getting married. life just happened!!

ask any person who is in a relationship, with a kid, and ask them if it happened on purpose ... again, in some or most cases, they didn't mean it!!

dude, you need to choose for yourself whether you want to be a lonely old hack when you are older, or a married man, with 50 children that have sprung down your line!!

    shit dude, you pick!! :mamoru:

I hope that I have given you some food for thought ... but I will tell you honestly: the only way that you will meet a woman that is the right one, is to write down exactly what you want in a woman, specifically things like height, shoe size, cup size, hair color etc.

it will make a BIG difference!!

anyways, man. keep up the good work!! reply back if there is more to add, or you want to argue on SPECIFIC womens' actions!! cheers and hooroo!! :wavey:

Peyomp and I are probably the biggest proponents of this.

You gain SUCH a different prespective on life. Just don't go anywhere stearle like London or Paris but go to some place that's a little more roughneck or exotic... Japan, Hong Kong/Macao, Brazil, Panama or Malaysia for instance.

you learn about your strenghts and weaknesses. Everyone asks "don't you get scared getting dropped off in a country where you don't know anyone?"
At first, yeah I was. I first showed up in Japan on my first ever overseas trip, solo, just before my 22nd birthday. I started a little later than a lot of others but i was tied up doing stuff. In the post 9/11 firesales that the airlines were having, picked up RT tix from SFO-NRT (Narita-Tokyo Int'l) for like $400.

I had the time of my life.. place is so dynamic. I went back 6 months later and still itchin to go again.

In the past 3 years, i've gone to ~15 countries and "special administrative regions" (Hong Kong and Macao).

Just booked tix to go to Caracas, Venezuela and Colombia :noes: This will be the roughest places I've been. I should make it out alive but then again, you never know...

Anyways, yeah travelling will give you a new prespective on life, if not something to live for.
