lol, i noticed that the user had the adcc vids you made, didnt know if it was same person.

anyways, what are your thoughts on leglocks. why is it that we see a lot of it more in japan compared to ufc/strikeforce/usa mma? is it because of japan's roots in shooto and catch wrestling? is it because in many bjj academies dont teach it enough in the states and brazil?

japanese tend to train in such a way they go for broke on submissions. bjj is taught with an emphasis on position first. when you go for leg attacks you can often open yourself up to being in awful positions in both grappling and mma. so its very risky.

look at joachim hansen vs rumina sato for example. when you go for leglocks it can often be do or die.

Because in Japan you're always fighting some other 125 pound scrub with no hands/power and if you fall back for a leg lock and miss - you're not going to pay for it with some barage of huge, heavy leather..

Japanese MMA =! US MMA... (true japanese mma - shooto, pancrase, deep, etc)

If I make it out to Japan within the next few years I gotta find Aoki. I think his BJJ is unquestionably solid and watching it, is amazing to me.

I can't believe that flying armbar he pulled there in the comp. The guy was sitting trying to pull guard and he just fucking flew over that shit... :eek3: I'm jealous.
