I was dual booting Vista and the 7 beta, everything worked as it should.

My copy of Vista was 'bad' so I formatted it and reinstalled my good copy of XP. Now theres no dual boot, can I just edit my boot.ini or should I use bootcfg? This is on a single hard drive with two partitions.

Vista uses a different boot loader. It has to be installed after XP.

I'm no longer running Vista, only XP/7. You're saying I have to reinstall 7 after XP to get this to work?

Can't I just change the file like I posted?

edit* I would have tried my approach already, but don't want to FUBAR anything.
