I always wondered... Arty always seemed to keep firing. At what, I don't know. Ramadi at the time was seeing a lot of action but I didn't know if arty's hand could reach that far from where I was.

shit is scary bro...almost got taken out in Iraq by a terrain denial mission.

ground CDR decided to make a detour to visit a village and didnt transmit back to HQ. our area had shitty COMs so we didnt hear the FA guys call for a clearance of the area...next thing i know i am leading my guys down a road and then BOOM BOOM, everything around us rattled, shaken, i felt the concussion go through my body, shit was blown all over our trucks....i do the dumb LT thing and ask "are we dead?" :o...then reality hit, i checked status and did my battle drills

it stopped our convoy..a week later we did a combat mission in that area...that same road had for LARGE IEDs...they blew a 10ft deep hole in the ground...so almost being fragged saved our lives...i was lead vehicle as usual :hsd:

Whoa, I had a dream last night that I was in the 10th Mountain Div. and blackfox was my squad leader. We deployed to Afghanistan but it wasn't really Afghanistan, it was in some parking lot. Weird, dude. Do you have the Ram's head? I know you can't wear it, was just wondering brosef.

We had a new "non-us citizen" chick on the boat, few weeks into her being here.. she was shining the bell out on the forward part of the ship and they started doing 5" firing. I don't know about you, but after one shot not only would I be deaf but I wouldn't be out there anymore. She stayed out there shining the bell. Left after the 5th shot. They said she should have been deaf permenantly.

And for you non-navy people, the 5" is the gun on the front of a destroyer or cruiser.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5%22/54_caliber_Mark_45_gun:

Imagine like 4 more feet back from that red sign on the bottom middle (coming in to where there is no picture) and that is where the bell is. That gun

That's a negative on both. But for the sake of opsec, it's more like 100 million kilometers.

there are sirens that go off, and no one is on the foscle during the firing event. the bell is against the wall, on one would of seen her. why she didn't leave at the siren or the first shot is beyond me.
