Ok; I'm trying to get started teaching my self web design. I've read a dreamweaver tutorial, and am working on reading an HTML guide. (backwards, i know)

Once I know how to design a page, are there any good books relating to working w/a host and working with uploading and FTP sites. (i got stuck on this part in the manual, so I am going to learn XHTML for the time being since I need to know that anyway.)

Im not even 100% im asking the right questions. I am however trying to absorb as much data as possible right now. I'd like to in the near future, first, make a website and put my resume on there. So instead of showing my resume to future employers, i just link them to it.

2nd; id like to eventually start my own site/ web based biz (still formulating ideas) and get some added income in my pocket from it or maybe even eventually work @ a web firm or be completely self employed.

So what books should I read?

(id prefer a pdf file since they are easier to read than looking at the screen, and I can scribble notes)

    links? thanks!

next im going to move on to php, java and some other coding....

I'm in the same boat, any helpful websites that are easy to learn from would be cool too

What I have been doing is going on limewire and downloading and printing (and reading) as many how-to books as i can find on the relevant subjects.... i just printed about 250 pages on an html guide (and thats with 2 pages per printed one)
