    anyone?

This is my first year working with bonsai. Last summer I picked up a few little plants in upstate NY. Two little ones didnt survive the winter. One was a small trident maple, the other was some kinda pine

Im just trying to see if there are other OT people who are into this, also if they can throw out some pointers on how to care for the plants.

yes, i'm replying to a 2 year old thread ;)

Maple and Pine? Were they kept indoors or outdoors? These are still trees and Pine and Maple need to go through a winter domant cycle - ie: be cold and hibernate. This doesn't mean toss them outside to freeze, that would kill them. But they need to be kept Cold. I keep mine in my basement with a light on a timer, and water them very very sparingly once every 3 weeks during the winter months. Spring Summer and Fall my babies grace my backyard. Too many peopl mistake Bonsai for an Indoor hobby - they are trees and need to be treated like trees albeit small trees.

I may build a Greenhouse this summer :noes:
