didnt like the quick release head on it and the fact that it holds 11lbs is misleading. the legs were like toothpicks

what about a 3028 head and either a 3011 leg or 3001bpro leg?

the 3011 will extend much further than the 3001. it will be almost as high as the 3001 w/o the center extended.

ive got an older 3011 and its very sturdy and i have never felt limited by its height. I'm using a 3126 head which is about as heavy as the legs lol

i'm kind of leaning towards the 3001bpro and the 3028 head. it should be about $179 shipped

money i shouldnt spend but i want a tripod :sad2:

now i want honest opinions guys. none of this telling me what i want to hear. honest experiences

ive been on there literally all day long. i've bid on 2 different ones but within the last 20 minutes i think i've made my mind up. i'm pretty sure i want the 3001bpro b/c of the horizontal abilities but i'm afraid that it'll become unsturdy when i have to extend it all the way up. hence the 3011 b/c it will go to the full length of the 3001 w/o being full extended

I use a 3021 so I couldn't give you an opinion on the others you mentioned. The 3021 extends high enough for anyone ~ 6"0" w/o hurting your back and it can go as low as a few inches for the macro crew.

For some reason when I read 57" total with the top extended I was thinking it was higher than I'd ever need. This is making me think I may return the 3001 for a 3021, but the 3001 gets here today so we'll see.

the 3021 is 57" w/o the center column extended =)

With it, it's about 70-75" iirc (plus the height from the head).

Yea, I know. I knew the difference before I ordered, I was just thinking the 3001 would be plenty high, now i'm a bit concerned. I have seen the 3001 in person though and the 3021, and I liked the size and weight of it better, I'll probably be carrying mind around a lot. So I did like it. But we'll see.

B&H seems to have a pretty good return policy so worst case scenario i just suck it up and send it back

~ the 3021 is a half pound heavier but when folded, I think it's about 6" shorter. You get use to the weight after awhile, especially when you factor in the 1 lb for the head and 3-5+ lbs for the camera/lens.
