If some of these contests are less competitive than others but they both award the same pro card, why don't people flock to the less competitive contests? I was looking at that other thread where the OPs friend entered what was considered to be a more competitive contest and it got me wondering.

the ifbb qualifying comps are not easy.. the locals, regionals and the such can have a varying level of competitiveness.

Thirteen guys out of the top twenty bodybuilders at the Olympia don't have the myostatin gene that limits muscle growth.

Agreed. Even my buddy didn't start out wanting to be builder, its just what path he eventually went down after working out and liking it.

Plus to get a pro card you have to win a national contest and you have to qualify to get there, etc etc.

There are no "less competitive" qualifiers for a Pro Card. There are only a handful of Level 5 men's competitions and they are all very competitive.

Aetually there are, look up were victor richards got his pro card from. I could have gotten my pro card at that show  You are correct that there are not any in the USA, but outside here theres a few shows that are not even close to nationals or usa physiques that award pro cards. Then theres the PDI :mamoru:

Yup, like the New Englands, people like Matarazzo started there and demayo. Thats the show i always do, and always get smoked :mamoru:. I could go get plenty of first places or overalls at the Mr Nebraska but i would rather win against the best then win agasint some farmer who owned a speedo and was board that day

shopping for easier contests when pursuing your pro-card doesnt work. Eventually you will have to compete with the best in the area regardless of what qualifiers you have previously passed.

In Ontario, there are guys that will drive 8 hours to a rural qualifier in order to proceed up the chain easier, but at the end of the day, if you make it to provincials or nationals, you still have to stand next to the top in the classes.

But, if you just want a local qualifier trophy, i guess its worth the drive.

Would being Mr. Nebraska get you a pro card?
