There is no recommended amount. It depends what BF% you're bulking up from. Example: I'm pry around 20% BF but I'm bulking because I want to put on some muscle before I cut the fat off. Others are at 11% and bulking to continue building muscle, though you can already SEE their muscles. I think I've remembered seeing that around a 5% BF increase is expected with most bulks. One of the vets in here can correct me if I'm wrong though.

if I remember well... pure said he stopped bulking at 13-14%... but since he's much more advanced than most of us I'm not sure if that works for us too. :dunno:

If you let your bodyfat level get too high your testosterone production will start to become suppressed (so unless you are on something don't bulk forever).

Generally on a bulk I do not want to go higher than ~ 15%.

I am coming off of a bulk where I ended up at about 18/19% and I never want to do that again. From now on, I do not ever intend to bulk over 15% and would like to keep cuts ~ 11/12%.

I have found that if you train right and eat right then you do not necessarily have to put on 6% b/f just to bulk up 10lbs of LBM. Last year I bulked hard and ate like no tomorrow and trained 6 days a week. Granted, I was the strongest I had ever been, but it was not worth the extra fat I had put on and now I am paying the price trying to get rid of it

My original weight loss brought me from around 25% to 17%.. I am taking advantage of noob gains for a few months before going on another cut cycle..
