about what % bodyfat do you need to be to start seeing your abs?

i know it is probably different for everyone, but im sure if you have 25% bodyfat you arent going to see a persons abs

also, how accurate are the scales that tell you your bodyfat?

my scale says im at 7% bodyfat.. but im not even sure how correct it is, i would think you would see a persons abs at 7% bodyfat

those scales do not accurately depict bf.

Abs are like any other muscle, "showing" them entirely depends on how big they are and how much fat you have between the muscle and your skin :)

The bigger the abs, the easier they can be shown.
Some guys with small abs need to go down to 5-7% to see them. Some guys with big abs can be over 10% and still have abs. There is a dude at my gym that i swear is well over 12% and his abs are fucking amazing.

In the end, it doesnt matter what "%" really. The percentage is just a number and that number represents NOTHING to anyone but you because that number looks totally different on everyone.

There is no substitute for the mirror or the stage, they will always let you know if you need to cut or gain more.

If you truely are at 7% bf and you dont see your abs, then they are probably not as developed as they should be.

As i get older, the guys i train with and guys that compete rely less and less on numbers.

thanks.. you can almost see them, like i was just looking at myself in the mirror, and you can see the top two and just a tiny bit of the next two, but only when i am flexing

depends on the person. most people around 14% will start seeing definition, 7% you'll start seeing hard cuts

Totally depends on how you carry bodyfat. I know people with visible abs at a measureable 12-13%, where I have to be around 7% on the same calipers to show even the top 4. :(
