    BMW people E36 M3 questions...

How is the maintenance on these cars? Expensive?
    How are the reliabilty wise?
Will they be able to hand a 300 mile a week commute without a problem?
Any thing I should look out for?

us spec e36 m3: same maintanence as all other i-6 e36's, which is relatively low. i seriously love these cars, i have been been through about 8 e36's, everything from the 318i to the m3, the chassis is just unstopable on this car. and despite having 8 of em, i think i will drive an e36 til the day i die.

this might help out a little too http://www.dtmpower.net/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=773359

the water pump problem is only an issue on 95 and below production dates (that includes early year 96's)

Are parts expensive for the e36 m3? specifically a '99 model?
How much should I pay for relatively low mileage one?

No. The M3 was still e36 in 1999. Only the regular cars were e46.

and the e46 M3 didnt start production till 2001. There is no such thing as a 2000 M3.

Matainence is higher than a Honda, but much better than a Porsche. Drive the e36 and you will find it is a great car, and for the monny, is a great bargain.

I love coming to OT.com to discuss BMWs. It's like I am superintelligent.

Go search this at Bimmerforums.com, there are a LOT of threads on this and you won't even need to ask your question. It's been rehashed 3+ times a day. :)
