I'm a noob, so please be gentle. I've noticed that sometimes when I take pictures with flash in low light settings, they come out blurry- not blurry like a long exposure, but out of focus blurry. The camera is just a finepix z1. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

looks like your gear cant auto focus in low light. same thing happens with my tamron lens when taking pictures in a club or out in the street at night.

the camera is focusing on something on the lens or you're not letting the camera focus before hitting the shutter.

28-75 on a rebel xt. the af is the only thing that bothers me with this lens. it consistently locks out of focus ~ 20% of the time. maybe its just my copy :dunno:

I've read that about a few of the Tamrons. I just ordered one, so I guess I'll find out. :hs:

yeah, i pretty much just take my tokina 12-24 f/4L and 70-200 f/4L in these type of situations.. both are slower, but focus spot on. just no cool bokeh shots. :)

how do you like the 12-24? I'm thinking that's going to be my next lens (other than my 50mm and 18-55mm).

its a nice lens. focusing is fast and silent, and the build is similar to canon L glass (metal, i think?). its not heavy at all either. also, the pictures straight out of the camera are sharp/contrasty. sometimes i get flaring from the sun, but its not that big of a deal.
