My Dad just graduated from a gunsmithing school a couple months ago and I wanted to get him a Blue Book for gun values for Christmas, is there any particular brand of Blue Books that would be of better stature then any other?

A long time ago, I worked at a book bindery that made that exact book. Picked one up out of the rejects (came out of the binder crooked, nothing wrong with the content). It's been a great tool even as a reference guide. VERY comprehensive data in that book, and worth the $40 for any firearm professional.

it seemed like a perfectly reasonable question to me. I'm sure there is more than 1 type of blue book - he wanted to know if one was better than the other :dunno:

    Yes, you were.

The google answer would have worked if he said something like DO they make blue books...but he had this at the end of his statement:

So, he was aware of the blue book, but was looking for the advice of others as to what they thought OF the blue book, it seems.

I never put much stock in blue books. Since the values fluctuate, and depend on the area. A blue book value is a best guestimate but can sometimes be way off
