Old news really - all that stuff has been blocked for ages - now it's just formalized into one DoD policy versus 12 different subcomponent policies.

Pretty much everything is blocked here, and even when we find a cool website, it is only up for a few days before it is blocked. Same goes for any new proxy that we find.

It's getting out of hand. Certain things ok, sites like youtube use an enormous amount of bandwidth that is "supposed" to be used for operational stuff. But blocking MTV.com? Why wasn't BET blocked? What about VH1? If photobucket was blocked why wasnt the other half dozen well known image hosting sites?

probably because of the amount of hits those sites get. they arent catering to a specific type of site, they're just watching what you do while at work and blocking it. sounds to me like you are more worried about 'the man' than anything else.

I think its pretty lame to block myspace and stuff over in iraq. Here in the states I can see why, but come on people that are deployed need something they can do to get away from all the bs over there.

Negative, cause half the sites on that list ive never heard of :p In all seriousness if they were blocking sites that used up too much bandwidth in the military, worldofwarcraft.com would be blocked :p I'm guessing this is all branches though, I know the navy uses up a lot of bandwidth on togetherweserved.com.

Imagehosting sites get blocked because of the photo's people try to put on there.

Things you shouldn't be taking pictures of.

Hmm still works on DHS networks. :noes: MySpace is blocked, but YouTube still works too. I'm sure they'll be blocked sometime in the future.

The memo was issued several months ago, but DISA didn't implement it till a few days ago. It may have been implemented locally prior to that.
