    Hello,
I'm running win 2000 server edition on one of my ftp servers.
A hacker was trying to access my network. I had my McAffee virus scan block all incoming ftp ports until i resolve this issue. My question is, what can i use to block just one IP address? The system log told me that a user at ip XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX failed to login as admin, administrator...etc etc.
So, that is telling me someone is trying to gain access. I looked up the ip address on one of those sites and it maps over to China.
Anyway, how can i block just specific ips. My virus scanner wont block specific ones, just the entire port.

A virus scanner shouldn't be used for security, that's what a firewall is for. Install a (hardware or software) firewall and block off a single or whole range of IP addresses.

what about going into IIS, right click your FTP site, choose Properties, goto the Directory Security tab

    add that IP address.
