    Source - Koscheck's MySpace page-

2007 is here and you have to love the internet now days, shit why
even pick up the news paper anymore? It’s only going to feed you a
bunch of bull shit that no one really cares about. So let’s get to
the point! Two days ago my fight on April 7th at UFC 69 in Houston,
TX was on the down low and now every Tom, Dick and Harry has reports
of a KOSCHECK vs. Diego Sanchez!!!! Could this really happen??
    KOSCHECK vs. Sanchez

There are a lot of reports this week that KOSCHECK vs. Diego Sanchez
for UFC 69, so lets just clear some things up. First off, I’ve been
asking the UFC to set this fight up for over a year now and every
time it got put on the back burner for “the thing to do list.” Not a
big deal, from my eyes just keep training and winning fights by all
means. So two years from TUF season #1 in all my fights i've never
had any real good reasons to fight any of my opponents and now I have
    a big reason to fight!!!

It's time to have some fun :) And keep training for another win!!!
But this fight could be the biggest fight of my career!?!?!?

WELL WELL WELL, Just to clear a bunch of reports: YES, it’s on UFC
69 Houston; TX there will be a KOSCHECK vs. Diego Sanchez. I hope you
kids on the forums have some fun talking about KOSCHECK vs. Sanchez
because yes it’s on UFC 69 and yes, you’ll tune in because you
either really hate me or love me with nothing in between!!!

    Public Enemy No.1!!!
    “KOS”

While I'm not a big fan of both, I like Diego more as a fighter because when he fights, he brings it to them.

I'll watch it but I really won't be rooting for either one, I'll just be rooting for a good fight.

At this point its pretty easy to see the winner, I mean really, Diego is pretty much better in everyaspect of the game. Infact Diego is really the only welterweight threat to GSP.

Interesting. I'd think the winner should get a shot at the title after this, perhaps following Hughes GSP 2.

And Diego takes it, the Blanket is worthless.

Diego will smash Kos. I'd be fucking getting pissed if I was Sanches. Its like he beats one of the best in Karo, and then they down grade his next 2 fights to weaker opponents. I say Diego vs. Hughes.

It will be better for his monetary situation though... His contract has to be up soon, in which case if he gets some easy fights comming his way, and maintains his flawless record his price goes up as he goes to re-negotiate for a new contract.

How many fights does diego have to win to get a crack at the title?

He's scared of GSP, so he's gonna pad his record with B and C level fighters until GSP loses the title.

Joslin has good stand-up that most people don't know about, he tooled Fitch, etc...and if Kos decides not to trade with Diego, then he can almost certainly just take him down

Diego deserves to be fighting Hughes or GSP now... Fighting Kos is a step down for him, and imho presents a no win situation for him. If he wins, he doesn't move up the latter any... if he loses, he falls way down the latter...

I don't like Diego, but his is a very good fighter, and I want to see him get smashed by GSP... I probably like Kos even less, so will be rooting for Diego in this fight....

Diego has to fight someone. At GSP's rate of getting hurt and pulling out of matches it would be a year or better till Diego got his shot. Not that it would matter, GSP would eat his fricken lunch.

I think a Hughes vs. Diego bout in March might make that ppv worth ordering... I'm betting Sylvia vs. Couture is going to be a 5 round snore fest... and Franklin is going to absolutely demolish McDonald... As it stands, I'm probably not going to buy it considering I am ordering the UFC and PRIDE ppvs in Feb....

I do agree that Kos will be a tough opponent for Diego... That is why I believe it is a risky yet unnecessary fight for him...

*edit* Didn't realize they'd already signed Hughes/Lytle for March... Hughes is going to totally clown him, a Diego/Hughes fight would have been MUCH better...

This is such a retarded matchup

Diego should have a title shot without a doubt. Diego vs GSP should be the big money, big exposure marquee matchup to sell a PPV with. Instead they have him fighting a really really dangerous fight against a guy who is dull and no particularly popular. Koscheck isn't even close to a title shot just yet, if he wins (which is very possible) it's going to completely fuck up any momentum diego has.

    This should be the matchups

    Diego vs GSP
    Hughes vs Koscheck

Then naturally the winner of Hughes and Koscheck gets to challenge for the winner between GSP and Diego.

Blah I still think this won't be too much trouble for Diego. His stand up game is better than Blanket's and though Kos is a better wrestler, I haven't seen him pull out any subs other than some chokes which Diego simply won't allow.

Maybe once he realizes that he won't GnP Kos so easily, Diego will work striking (similar to how he took out Riggs) or work on those subs we haven't seen for a bit.

Plus the way Diego persevered against Karo and his judo makes me think that the only shot the Blanket's got to win is takedown and ground control, a lay and pray to a decision. Other than wrestling I honestly don't see him with any other advantage over Sanchez.
