I was just curious where everyone here buys their blank media (CD-R's, DVD-R's, and whatnot). I've been trying to shop around and see where the best prices are, but everyone I've checked out seems to generally have the same prices. The only good deals I've found so far were just Black Friday sales, which obviously aren't around anymore.

    Try looking at staples/officemax/compUSA/bestbuy/frys

they usually have them cheap with mail in rebates, and pricematches.. very often you can find CD-Rs free after rebate

Hmmm. I still have to check out Fry's. There's only 1 here in Illinois that I know of, and I hear that they've got good sales for computer stuff in general. Hopefully they've got DVD-R's for a lower price than most of the stores I've already been to.

fry's is great for general stuff, but be very very very careful with their components. I'd never get a cpu/memory/mobo from them.

most of their good prices for cpus are for oem (always buy retail). As for motherboards, most of their good deals are for ECS, which are absolute crap. The remainder of their boards are mishandled both during shipping and through the course of being stock, and they have an extremely high failure rate. You could seriously go play a game of "find the new merchandise" because it's like looking for a needle in a hay stack -- everything is returned/used/broken.

Best Buy is having a sale right now on 50 pack Memorex 8X DVD-R's for $20. DVD Decrypter ID'ed them as Ritek G05's. Theyre packaged in a gold/brown spindle.

Until they let me down, I ONLY use Memorex media. You can find the 100pk for $20, which I find acceptable (though others might be found cheaper) and the DVD+Rs, I get the 50pk for $20 on sale every once in a while. Got a full spindle of each now, so I'm set for the holidays.

Memorex CD's are really good. But they only burn at 40X on my Sony burner (the lite-on does em at 52x). 40x is still fast enough for me, tho.

I got some Fuji DVD-R 8x for cheap, and they've been great.

    yeah... that's why I said "... and the DVD+Rs, I get the 50pack for $20..."

I usually find the media on sale at Office Max or Circuit City, and then price match it with WalMart, as they are the only store in my little town.
