    I hate downgrading jobs...

I was laid off in August and in Sept got a new job. I LOVED my last job.. was doing a bunch of C# stuff, real advanced SQL stuff, and the people there were awesome. Had a top of the line P4 with 1gb of ram, etc, etc...

My job now is a smaller company, i'm stuck doing ASP ( gag me ), SQL Server 7 :)ugh: ) on slow ass servers, people here suck, and my dev box is a p3 600 with like 256 of ram :sad2: :rant2:

I need to keep looking around... there has to be a better job somewhere. :wtc:

sorry guys, just had to vent :o

best advice ever... even if your current job is shitty, keep good friends with people who could potentially be future references. I've done a lot of hiring before, and if 1 thing besides skills set a candidate apart from the rest, is good references.

it makes these awful sounds too.. I think the HD is going bad

Although this is my primary source of income, I do have other work, but this is consistent at least. I'm half tempted to setup a VPN and work from home on a real system. :x:

Computers are so cheap though - everyone here is now on at least a PIII 733 (for the office workers), and I'm on a P4 2.4 with a Gig. It's a drop in the bucket when you look at all the other expenses that a company incurs.

Helps when I build all of it though ;)

PM me for my email address and I'll forward your resume to a company that's looking for someone with your background.

    It's in Dallas, though.

You guys are just out of high school and you're bitching that you don't have fancy IT jobs? Give me a break. I was working at gas stations and grocery stores for 2 years after I graduated, and I worked in the industry for 3 years before I got better than a tech support phone monkey job.

Go to college while you can still sponge off your parents and live for free. Bitch about your low-grade IT jobs after you have degrees.

    It just sounds that way.

    "Maybe my diploma will help."

"I have sent over 1000 resumes since i've graduated in december and nothing...I am seriously considering going to university to be a cop."

    :dunno:

im a 3rd year college student. i had a pc repair job right out of high school. i left it cause my boss stopped paying me. i could go back, but i know he wont be able to pay me, so why bother.

i will have my degree of CIS in 2 years. if i do co-op, 3 years.

i havent sent out a blanket of resumes. what we are taught to do is find 3-4 jobs that you really want, and though your cover letter, resumes, folio, and any communication you have with anyone at the company, you should be able to secure a job.

but the IT sector in bc is harsh, and ill probably try this in Calgary.

It's arrogant to say somebody fresh out of high school shouldn't demand a tip-top IT job? Give me a break. With no degree and no experience, tech support is just about the best you can reasonably hope for, unless you get lucky.

As for ignorant, that's not really fair either. Based on what they posted, it was a reasonable assumption. I was wrong. Big deal.

    Get over yourself.

What happens when u assume, u make an ass out of u and me. :squint:

no where we talked about high school. if you have seen our previous posts, or have lurked at all in this forum, you would know that leb_crx and i are both college/university students. same with rob, ds3 and a few others.

i dont see any of us (those who i listed) demanind a tip top job. ill take any IT job. i got lucky in high school doing pc repair for a company, and becoming their senior tech.

i know i wont get a top of the line job out of college with a degree, but any way to get my foot in the door is a right step. thats all im asking.

whos demanding a 'tip-top' job, first of all you should read before you make stupid posts that show how big of a n00b you are, we both said we had/working towards a DIPLOMAS, which you cannot get out of high school

    so learn to read :greddy:

seriously why people like this bother, all they do is come to stir up and shit and act like they know something when in reality they dont know nothing
