Looks a lot better than the silver one, but still too little too late. At this point if you're looking in that price range you might as well get a used 10d for $750-800 or a used 300d for about $600.

the new ef-s lenses will insice beginners as well. The 10-22 and 17-85 sound great, but are actually shit for the price

won't be new, you can't find a new one anywhere, except maybe some scam artist ebayer. You can find plenty of used ones though.

thats really sketchy. Canon hasn't shipped any new ones in months, and even before that many places were back ordered or discontinued it becuase they couldn't get adequate stock

the 10d has been in plentiful supply for quite a wihle before the 20d was released. It's been discontinued for the past month or so, but there's still stock to be found.

I'd trust B&H to be reputable anyways, I've ordered a couple of grand worth of equipment from them over the years. If you happen to be in NYC, stop by their store, it's huge.

Oh I know B&H is great. I order from them whenever I don't need the equiptment right away, otherwise its Samys or Calumet for me.

But having worked for a store that offers more digital cameras than even B&H carries and the largest Canon distributon in North America, I've had to deal with getting 10D's in stock for quite a while.

Most of the smaller places (Kitz/Ritz, Best But, etc) discontinued it earlier on, since they could never keep them in stock and always had pissed off customers on back orders.

It just seems weird that Canon would inccrease production at the end, right before the newer model was released. Even B&H was out for a while this spring.

I doubt they increased production at the end, but you can still find stock in a bunch of places if you want a new camera around $1000.Personally, I'd just buy it used but many people want new.

It all comes down to personal choice, but I'd rather spend the extra $100 for a 10d with a metal body and better viewfinder than a black 300d.

That or just wait until the 300d replacement comes out, most likely in the spring.
