Are most BJJ tournaments single elimination? I thought most were double for some reason, and was considering attending a different tourney. I would prefer not to... it's a longer drive.

Its sucks but most are single elimination. Rarely will you find a double.

The last one we did was double. Most are single.

Single will be enough if you don't compete a lot/it's your first time.

I find the smaller ones I've been in are double, just so they aren't over in 10 minutes.

Here's why I like single elimination:

    1) No one can go in with a "Well, whatever happens, I get at least 2 matches" attitude
2)Brackets are so much easier. 99% of BJJ refs aren't the smartest cookies in the world. Be nice to them.
3)Faster. I go to/ref at single elims, and it runs typically from 11 am - 7 pm, which is a LONG DAY. I reffed at a double elimination that went from 9:30 am - 12:30 am the next morning. Wanted to kill myself.

wrong attitude son. doesn't matter how many elimination cause you're winning every fucking match no question.

I decided today that I'm going to do the cruiser weight class. 16 pounds to drop before the tourney (next weekend).

I was wrecking noobs in my rounds today as well. And doing 'well' against superior belts (as in, not getting wrecked completely). I feel pretty confident going in.
