Just wondering. I often catch myself holding my breath, which of course, only makes me even more exhausted sometimes.

It's really starting to get to me; especially when in guard. I try to slow down my breathing but when I'm trying to prevent a pass it changes completely.

Honestly man - the best advice I can give you about that is to do yoga. Even if you just got an e-book and practice/read some of it at home, it will help a ton..

PM me if you want an e book.

You need to relax broly. I do it sometimes when I am forced to strain to get out of a shitty position....most of the time I'm pretty rythmic.

    .

I've been doing yoga on and off for a couple years now. My breathing in BJJ class is great.

i may do sporatic breathing if i'm trying to escape a bad position or if i'm fighting for a position but i rest and control my breathing in places where i'm safe. I'm not gonna chill out and control my breathing as the guy is smashing me and about to pass my guard. I'll control the breathing if i sweep him and get sidemount etc.

i try to keep my breathing as controlled as possible, but there are of course times where i lose focus and after a bit i have to regain composure.....i think my breathing really didn't come into play until after i started running with my mouth guard in to restrict my airflow...i liked it and believe it heled but i could be wrong

Open mat tonight - I'm going to use it to practice my technique more or less.

Thats what happened to me last night. I'm such a noob I think it's all strength sometimes when technique > all. Still so much to learn it's insane. My game is definitely improving since I first started - but it's my breathing that's killing me.

keep working on it dude, the more you spar the better you will get at it until it become second nature. What i did to help is EVERY time i would take a hit or give a hit, remember to exhale sharply.
