BJ Penn is the man, I find it very disturbing by the amount of people who say GSP will dominate BJ Penn. I will be rooting for BJ at UFC 58, he is the man.

IMHO, since I haven't seen Penn fight recently. Gomi would beat Penn easily. :o

How old is that fight, Gomi didn't look as big as he has in the last fight I saw him in.

  11. BJ Penn is the shit. He fought one of the better heavyweights and lost to a decision. Matt Hughes said he was strong as fuck too. I think Penn is going to take this. He's better than GSP standing up and absolutely deadly on the ground. BJ will never fight as LW again so I doubt we'll see a rematch between him and Gomi.

right now, gomi is on top of his game, and judging from penn's last 3 fights, he's been slacking himself

it's been awhile since BJ fought though, so we'll see...

several points to be made: BJ made for a large 155lber, and back then, Gomi wasn't as big of a 155lber as he is now. also, in the last several years, Gomi has improved immensely, especially with his stand up

just watch his older fights and it's clear as day how much he's improved

most all fighters don't fight at their natural weight. gomi, mach, hughes, bj, gsp, silva, liddell, etc etc -- NONE walk around at their fighting weight by at least 15lbs

Should be a great fight no matter what...
GSP is a great fighter but so is BJ.. Should be a interesting match up..
If GSP wins he definately deserves a title shot

Maybe getting a bit ahead of ourselves here... BJ Penn, Matt Hughes, GSP... 3 Dominate fighters all top fighters, I would say the top 3 WW's in the world. I have said before ANYONE who "thinks" they can confidently say so and so is so much stronger then the other is out of their mind. Re-watch the GSP-Hughes fight... GSP had control of the match but Hughes pulled the win off and if you want to argue with that find another retard to argue with.

BJ Penn is one bad dude, most respectable for his willingness to fight anywhere at any class, that is what makes him so bad ass. He has fought amazing people yes, but that doesn't make him the toughest. Hughes has fought the toughest, and still that doesn't mean he is the ultimate. GSP is the next guy in the UFC who can truely dominate. 24 years old with a short span of experience in BIG fights, BUT he is getting used to them now. His fight with Hughes was pre-mature, they put him in the ring too early. He is a different fighter now then he was then.

My breakdown is this, fans are giving GSP way too much credit, there is NO WAY he is going to walk through Penn NOR is Penn going to walk through GSP. Same goes for the winner when they fight Hughes. We can all sit and argue about this until next Saturday, (which I'm sure we will) but honestly if the betting odds stay the way they are I am putting my cash on Penn, atleast I can win something there haha, GSP will give you practically even money at this point :)
Yes I am a big fan of GSP but I am not going to say he has this match.
