I was in the Navy for 5 years, made E-5 pretty quickly.

    I miss it.

I don't have anything keeping me where I am and I'm strongly considering going back in.

    Toss some advice.

  2. my advice is do it.

I'd say my freedom, but a civilian job has been just like being in the military. There isn't that much of a difference.

I guess I could lose being poor, having to work shit jobs and go to school part time, and go to school part time and make a decent living doing something that I love.

Before you're quick to go back in, remind yourself why did you get out.

Also how long ago were you in? Shits changed a lot. A LOT. I've seen a big change in how things operate in the short 4 years I've been in, if it's been awhile since you've gotten out remember that.

edit: i should note that it has changed for the worst.

Is it really that bad out there? I mean did you use the skills you learned in the Navy to land a decent job or jumped on the first thing open? Just curious because I'm on the way out.

I'm colorblind so I got stuck in a paper pushing job.

People don't really care that you were in the military at all in my experience.

Y'know if you really miss it, stick with what you're good at. Not everyone's meant to be a civilian. :)

I dunno...it depends if they let me reenlist indefinitely, put selection in my contract, and no choice of duty station. Then I might reconsider.

How much do you miss it?

If you were to go back in would you still be at that grade?
