So, as I've mentioned before my wife and I are expecting our 1st child, and building our house all in the upcoming months. so my budget of spending 7-10k on film and processing a year needed to change. So I decided to start hunting for a DSLR. I ended up finding a killer deal on a used 10D. IMO the 10D is still a great camera, and I couldn't justify spending the extra money on a 20D. 395 shipped and insured to my door for a 10D that cosmetically rated a 9 and only has 5-6k clicks.

    yeah.. I shoot alot :o

yeah, all my 35mm lenses will work (I only own the 50 1.8 though & the kit) The only downside is it won't accept EF-S lenses... which isn't a big deal though.

i told ya your film days were coming to an end, I just expected this further down the line when the little rug rat was actually able to be seen :o

the 10d is great. I had one for ~1.5 years, and was very happy with it. And at that price, it can't hurt.

my wife actually talked me into it last night... I was debating buying it or not because I just had to spend some of my extra cash I'd been saving on some parts to fix my truck....

now I need to start saving my pennies for a decent wide lens

I'll probably be pouring any and all extra cash I have into building the house... we're trying to build most of it without a loan... so far, so good. We've got the lane done(we're 1800ft off the road), septic system done, blue prints made....

17-40L would be nice... I have access to one of those to use now if I need it. 16-35 would be great, but it's a little to high right now. I was thinking more along the lines of the 12-24 tokina. I've also been eyeing the tamron 17-35 f/2.8-4 It got great reviews on FM, and it's only a tad over 200 for one on KEH.

I'm looking at the same lens too (tamron 17-35mm)!
There's quite a few on them on FM last time i checked, but they were around 250'ish. If you go check out some of the online camera shops, they go for around 270'ish NEW. I don't know about you, but i'd feel safer buying a new lens. At that price, it's really damn hard to say no. Prior to that I was looking at the Tamron 17-50, but the pricec difference is way too high.

Hell if you want to go ultra ghetto and fab up a 17-55mm kit lens to work with the 10d, there's DIY posts showing how to get the ef-s 17-55mm to work on the 10d. Either way, good luck man! you're gonna like the 10d. I have a 300d (unmodded firmware), but held the 10d, and it made my 300d look like a toy. Good luck dude!
