Here we have the elusive black bird with colorful patches by its wings, and the less elusive and not as noisy brown bird.

I was eyeing up the 100-400 f4.5-5.6L but after a ton of reading i've decided to save some money and go with the 400 prime. I'll likely add a 2x tele to the 70-200 and save up to upgrade it to a 2.8L when i gave more cash. That will give me a nice range.

I like my 18-200mm it's great overall but I want something a little longer.

If I could have 18-300mm I know I would be happier. :hs:

We have hella birds here so I'll try to take more pics. There's ducks in the pond by my apartment and I've seen a pheasant out there as well. What I really want to find is an owl :eek3:

This was taken at 200mm if that makes you feel any happier?

Glass will take you half way there, but you have to stalk them correctly regardless of how long your guns are, they can spot you a mile away and be gone before you even get a chance to focus.

    200.. you jerk!

I've got a membership at my local bird sanctuary, but it's still early in the season. Lots of cold weather still, and when it's warm, it's windy as heck down there by the water. Trying to hone my skills though.

Stopped at my favotire local camera shop on the way home, they have the 400 in stock!! I almost pulled the trigger. Payday in 2 days so i'll hold my breath til then.

Time to go see what i ended up with this morning for results.

Damn, I need to learn how to sneak up on those things

  25. There's no way you took that eagle headshot at 200mm unless that's a 100% crop, in that case good luck on getting any quality prints....

Here's my attempt at 200mm with 1.6 conversion factor, saw about 35 baldies in one day. Pretty sweet! :coold:
