Most people around here seem to like the Harris (sbrm6-9) for precision rifle, but one of the dealers that does up a lot of F-TR rigs loves the Versapod...

    what's OT's review on it

I don't have a strong inclination either way, Harris seems lighter, but the VPOD is easier to adjust/lock and looks cleaner.

I'm going to be mostly bench, but probably going to incorporate more and more prone, as we have some tactical rifle shoots that are pretty fun.

depends on your usage. I've only used the harris bipods mostly because that what all the 3 gun guys use. I like how the legs are spring loaded. It is funny how the spring loading works though.

The following has heavy 3 gun bias...

The legs are spring loaded to fold back into the up position. I flip the spring and collar around so that it is spring loaded to pop the legs into the extended position. Then I tie a lenght of para cord to the legs so with a tug I can deploy the legs and get to shooting. In 3 gun if you use a bipod (for open class only) the bipod must be up at the start of the stage. Typically I run around shredding stuff then at some point I have to hit the deck and shoot prone. I then yank on the cord as I drop down and I can save a second or two where other guys fiddle with getting the legs deployed.

Next when I get up I don't want to fold the legs out of the way so I got a arredondo quick release so I push a button and toss the bipod to the ground and beat feet to get to the next shooting positition.

So this is what is needed for 3 gun and the harris addresses these needs.

If your just going to shoot from a bench they you can probably run any bipod and it doesn't matter as long as it's stable.

if Larue made a tactical bipop cord I would gladly pay the $79 for it.

and make sweet love to it down by the fire every night.

as long as it has a nato SN, that is.

Harris swivel with pod loc is what I run. Don't care for the versapod much myself.

The atlas bipod should be shipping before long. I have one ordered and its supposed to absolutely blow the harris out of the water. Might want to check one of those out...

No experience with Versapods to compare though.

I have chord on mine also, but it's a bit shorter so all I have to do is slap one leg and it pulls the other down with it. Harris, no swivel for me.
