I'm looking to pick up a bipod for my AR for mostly bench with some prone use. I'm going to get a Harris, but I'm not sure if I should be looking at a 6-9" or 9-13".

  2. 6-9 is much easier to use for the vast majority of prone situations. Make sure to get a bipod that can swivel. Add a pod-loc if you want.

I use a 6-9" on my Savage, and can honestly say I've never used the 9" adjustment other than just dicking around.

I prefer 9-13 if you want to shoot outdoors alot

  6. From what position? 9-13 is waaay too high to be comfortable prone for me.

Shooting off hills, rock, or anything else you can find :o Also helpful for shooting targets at higher heights. Plus I find 9 to be just right for me so i dont have to pull out the legs when going to prone

I ended up buying the 6-9" length. It works great from the bench.

Went to the range yesterday with a couple other socal OTers and dragged my sister along. I had picked up a new mag along with the bipod because bolt had problems stripping rounds from the modified(to be nanny state legal) NMHTG 30 rounder I had. What wonders a properly working magazine can do.

I think I pretty much have OTer soondubu talked into an AR (possibly an AR-10) and after talking my sister into shooting it she started right away shooting at steels at 300 yards.

6-9 is standard. Go 9-13 if you have a gut.

Or buy one of those new Atlas bipods and skip all that bullshit.

Supposedly it's in a whole 'nother world from the Harris. I had two on order from the initial run, but then cancelled after delivery date was looking pretty far out. Now I'm kicking myself.

A buddy just got one, and he said it's night/day shooting with it. Said it completely changes the recoil attributes of the rifle, for the less. They ain't cheap, but I'll prolly end up with one eventually.

I still need to invest in some better optics for the AR and the truck needs trans work (which may turn into a 5.0 swap if I get a quote for $1500) so I think I will be sticking with the Harris for the time being.
