Checked it out yesterday, sport package with 17" wheels, winter package, perfect condition, all dealer stamped maintenance.

    Two questions:

    - Decent deal?
    - Reliable? I've always owned japanese and have loved the reliability, what am I getting myself into with this car??

Does the timing belt have to be replaced soon :o :noes:

Silver with black leather (this one doesn't have the 17" wheels, but you get the picture):

How much experience do they have with AWD?

Even if the system is reliable, the off-chance that it does break I'm sure means major $$$ :o

If you have to fix something, it is a little more expensive than a honda or a GM car. They are solid motors. I had a 1995 M3 that I sold with 140k miles on it. Still ran the same as when I bought it at 90k miles.

They are very reliable. Well, if you take care of them. The bad year for BMW was 1991. Especially the 3 series.

Just drive it normal and dont "mod" it. Dont rev the hell out of it all the time. It will last.

Bone stock is good. I went through the modding phase. It doesnt get you anywhere but more broken parts. When it comes down to it, no one fucking cares if you have a highly modded car except for some pimple face 16 year old dudes.

    People grow out of it.

You can do some of that yourself if you know how to turn a wrench.

    Alternator $640
    Brakes $445
    Exhaust System $895
    Radiator $650
    Shocks and/or Struts $1,320

but not the other more involved things...

just under 100k, and I live in Boston, one of the most expensive cities in the country :hs:
i had a volvo S60 on lease, then the infiniti qx4 now, and now downgrading to something smaller with better gas mileage and still AWD. cars are pretty much the worst investment you can make... i may make a decent paycheck, but I'm not gonna waste it on a car that will only depreciate

i have better places to put my money

    :dunno:

I assume these are dealer parts, i would likely just go to autozone. There is also a BMW/Mercedes shop a few blocks from my place.

so why waste your money on a high milage car that will cost more then most cars to fix. You can get an audi 1.8t quattro with 20k-30k miles on it for the same price

    recall:

2002 325Xi: There may be a crack in the rear brake rotor(s) that could expand due to braking torque, separating the brake drum from the disc.

Nice, you have good taste.... I wanted this one but it's got a slipping diff :sad2:

    $16,9
    60 k miles

A full brake job will run about 7-800 but that can be don DIY, same with the oil changes.

I havent seen the Xi, but from what I've noticed make sure that the diff, boots, and knuckles aren't leaking and same goes with the bottom of the oil pan.
