I shot this today at my Apt. Shot with a 300D with the Kit lens. I just got the camera a few days ago so I'm still learning with it.

    Quite good for a beginner.

I'm guessing you've had prior experience at least with a p&s.

I had a Canon G6 for a couple months before this one about a year or so ago. Never shot that much with it. I know the basic functions of the camera, but I'm still learning alot.

For instance, the other day, I learned I cant manual focus for crap. I got 1 decent shot out of 86.

Viewfinders on digital cameras nowadays are way too small, leave it up to the little computer in there to do the focusing.

Try a Pentax K1000 film camera, and you'll see.... I think it's even better than the 1Ds Mk2's viewfinder

I've kinda got to agree with him on the viewfinder pic being too small. I tried focusing manually using the viewfinder, and I got the pictures as crisp as i could within the viewfinder, but I still couldnt get it to focus properly. I havent had a problem yet using the Autofocus ability of the camera.

1d mkii viewfinder isn't anything special imo. the only viewfinders worth a hoot from Canon are on their ff bodies.

No worries. But I still stand by my statement of Pentax K1000 viewfinder > any current digital camera.

I'm too blind to focus on my own, which is unfortunate :(

i'll agree with the viewfinder argument, I find the 350d's to be too small.. have trouble focusing my 16mm fish eye.
