I'd like to slim down some and about a month ago I switched to a Bill Starrs routine + HIIT on a bike. Been working out for about 6 weeks now and my weight dropped from 212 to 208 :hsugh: Lost 1/2" off my waist... maybe even less.

Diet has been clean. Some health food fiber cereal in the morning + protein shake or tuna if I have time. Lunch is usually a taco salad, no shell, no sour cream. Pre-workout I usually have a shake and then after I have tuna or chicken breast + eggs (1 yolk at most). Throw in veggiest somewhere in there, usually broccoli, tomato, cucumber, etc...

For some reason I expected more for a fat ass like me. Last time I tried losing weight I went from 200 to 180 in about 2 months and I was eating a lot worse and using machines instead of free weights (broken shoulder brought it back and then some).

    Should I pick another routine?

are you making gains in strength? if so, you may be building muscle and losing fat at the same time.

6weeks is not enough time. Do it for another 6 weeks.

diet dictates weight gain or loss, not routine. the starr is a short workout, makes sense for cutting, IMO

The starr workout is designed to build your base - meaning that you're going to be building muscle and getting stronger.

This, in turn, will increase your metabolism and help you lose weight.

However, for the first ~2 months, you will be changing your body, and might not see the results you want. But you are setting your body up to be in a better position to lose weight and get in shape over a longer period of time.

You will soon notice that while you're not losing a ton of weight on the scale, your body is tightening up, and you're getting a lot stronger. This is what happens when you build muscle.

disagree slightly ...high volume burns a hell of alot more then this routine. If this routine got you diced...everyone here on the bandwagon wouldnt look like shit.

But on the other side your still right...diet hard enough and any training will get you leaner. In the end diet is 90-95% the battle

If you want to be stronger and somewhat in better shape...this routine+diet will net that result

i think a big part of the reason that you don't see that is because just about everyone on the routine here is a beginner, and obviously if you've only been training for 6 months you're not gonna be that that big or that cut regardless of what you're doing for a routine.

ya another reason the routine isnt for most here, they have no concept of training yet they go on a routine thats all compund movements, squats...deads...these are complex movements that take time to get correct. Yet you have to go balls out with weight for 5 reps...its just not the way i would go about it. 99% here are in it for the look and girls dont let them fool you.
