I've asked this before to others in person. But I'm really curious.

    I found a 2004 cbr 600 with 23k miles for around 4700...
It seems like its been well maintained but i'm really curious if 23k miles is considered "a lot" for a bike, just like 60k-100k on a car is considered "a lot"

im trying to gauge how much life is left on this bike.

From what i can tell about the owner, he works at a dealership, and the bike looks pretty well maintained, the chain wasnt droopy, no leaks... Looked clean.

But the owner seems pretty damn squidish. I'm going to bring a friend whos a rider with me to look at the bike again. But I'm curious what OT thinks, does this bike have too many miles?

If the engines still running strong it's got a lot of life in it regardless of how it's been ridden. I wouldn't worry about anything if it's been reasonably maintained.

If the engine was run hard, it's not going to last as long.
Also, if the guy stunted it, and ever ran it low on oil, you're gonna have problems.

So long as the engine has been properly maintained, it'll last a long time.

I've rode mine for thousands of miles on mountain roads and I'm pushing over 40,000 miles now...

People have hit 6 digits on 600s, and one of my friends has 60K on his F4i without any major maintenance. The only thing I'd be worried about is that it might be difficult to resell. You'll probably wreck it before you have to worry about that though.

Don't even bother trying to sell a bike with high mileage, Might as well part it out and throw the engine away, probably will get more money that way

Would you consider 20k miles high-milage?

Resale value is slightly a concern to me maybe in a year or so.

    I found a 600rr with 20k miles for 4300. :)

I had a 06 600RR if the bikes in good shape and motor pulls hard you will be fine. With miles on a bike you have to really look at suspention as well, because the forks and rear shocks need rebuilds also look for play in the steering head.

    Good luck

I found another one for 5000 with 12k miles.

Im going to go look at it tomorrow, and perhaps grab that bike instead.
But i'm going to make an offer on it for 4500.
