Who do you guys think will leave more of a legacy in MMA?

For me, the decision is between Rickson, Royce and Sakuraba.

Honestly, I think maybe Saku might be it. He took out one Gracie after another at a time when they were a force to be reckoned with.

Also, there might be a good argument for A. Silva.

    Randy, CroCop, Royce

Not even close to Rickson. He's 11-0 against mostly cans. Sak was cool but 98% of US Fans dont know who he is.

For me itd be Saku but damn there would be a solid argument for Fedor.

only fought the best of the best. no cans. always game - even in his losses. has done the unthinkable.

plus, being a legend has to do with your personality and what you do for the sport.

If this was a "who has the best record" you just type Fedor and the thread is done.

Never beat anyone, isn't mainstream, didn't help grow the sport of MMA, wasn't a champion, etc.

Couture was a champ MANY times over in different weight classes, only fought the BEST, is a complete ambassador for the sport and helped grow MMA into the mainstream in the states and helped grow fighters at his gyms.

This is simply an opinion thread.

No one thinks/remembers Rickson for his MMA now. They certainly wont in 20 years.

Rickson's popularity is essentially a running joke

Ricksons popularity is essentially based on the BEST grapplers in the world saying over and over that he absolutely DESTROYS them on the mat. His jiu jitsu and what he has done for jiu jitsu are second to very few. But this isn't about BJJ legends.

His MMA popularity is a joke amongst forum goers and unknown by the casual MMA fan.

Go to a bar during the fights and get on the loud speaker and say "Rickson by Armbar" and the people who laugh are forum members and the people who look at you like :wtf: are noobs or non-forum members.

I hate his FANS who still think the "old CroCop" exists..

He struck FEAR in his opponents in nearly ALL of his Pride fights. Watching him stalk his prey was a thing of beauty. Always been gracious in win/loss.. Very recognizeable global MMA figure.

Randy would be the biggest legend in my book. He is recognized globally. And i agree with Jeff, he truly is the ambassador of MMA, and not just the UFC.

He was simply popular. Tito and Randy are as popular but have actually taken steps to GROW MMA.
