What's worked well for people here to get larger calves? I have a pretty muscular upper body and my quads are great but then you get to my calves, and they're tiny. People will hate like they always do and give me shit about them and I'd really like to hear what's worked well for everyone here. For calves, I do about 4-5 sets of seated calve raises for about 12-15 reps and then I'll get on the smith machine and do standing calve raises. Honestly, they just don't grow. For the rest of my legs, depending on how I feel that day, I'll either hit some leg extensions pretty hard 3-4 sets then squat light with a lot of reps or hit the leg extentions (still 3-4 reps) lightly and go heavy on squat, in which I do about 5-6 sets, starting at 12 reps on my fist working set and going down 2 reps everytime I increase the weight. I also do about 3-4 sets of leg curls.

I'm considering starting to wear ankle weights everywhere I walk.

most people just use the elasticity of their achilles tendons and bounce the weight up and down, then wonder why their calves don't grow

I've noticed fat people have big calves. And some fat people who have lost lots of weight still have big calves.

So calves grow from carrying heavy weights around all day.

    Solution: buy a weight vest.

pause at the bottom of the rep for a sec. if you bouce the weight up as soon as you come down with it, then you're not working out your calves.

Are you repping 315 on Seated Calve Raises with 16" calves?

My calves grew a bit from:

    1) Doing raises on the leg press machine. And not that bouncy, bouncy crap. I am talking slow movement, feel the pinch and flex the calve type of movements.

    2) Playing more basketball/racketball.

    3) Working on jumping exercises/jump rope and trying to increase my vertical jump.

I have always had pretty big calves, but I noticed since doing more of all these I have seen some growth and increased strength in them.
My left calve is stonger though due to working the heavy clutch on the wrx.
