Tuner Rolls Out Production Version of Ironhide From Transformers Movie

MONROE, Wis. — All Transformers fans know that Ironhide is the slowest Autobot, but also the least vulnerable to attack. He transforms into a GMC TopKick 6500 pickup — and now a GM tuner has rolled out a production version.

Monroe Truck Equipment, in association with toymaker Hasbro, says the production version of Ironhide includes custom 20-inch aluminum painted black wheels fitted with monster 40-inch tires. The GMC TopKick normally comes equipped with dual rear wheels.

Other details include two chrome big-rig smokestacks, horizontal stainless steel step tubes, custom front and rear bumpers with textured powder-coat finish, and a 16,000-pound winch mounted on the front bumper.

As Ironhide would say, "High-tech circuitry is no replacement for guts."

What this means to you: Now you can look and feel like Ironhide.

The real Ironhide Topkick used in the Transformers film. Monroe's version is missing the Yukon side mirrors, blue lights, Autobot logo tailgate, and wears different tires.

Even without the big Road Armor front bumper, big tires and tall exhaust stack, the GMC TopKick 4500 is a beast of a rig. It would be intimidating painted lavender. The standard TopKick has massive side mirrors in order to see around utility beds and trailers. Those were swapped out for side mirrors from a Yukon for a cleaner look on Ironhide.

The steel 20-inch wheels were custom-built by Taylor Made for the Transformers production. They're wrapped in 35-inch-tall Nitto Mud Grappler tires. It's a face for Hasbro to love. Millions of kids will soon be playing with toys that look like this.

The C and K designations were dropped after '99, now it works for both, but it still doesn't make sense why they even put Cxxxx in the names anymore
