My current laptop has DVI out to my external screen. The new laptop only has VGA .

Think i'll notice a quality downgrade, or not really?

It depends, some people can see the difference, some can only see it when they have 2 screens side by side that are running on different outputs and some just plain can't see it.

If you don't have anything to compare it to, I doubt you'll see much difference.

depends on the monitor. Some monitors handle VGA really well, and the difference between DVI isn't noticeable.

yeah, i'd say this is the biggest factor.

i haven't noticed a difference with my setup, but then again, my max res. is 1280x1024
