    what's wrong with chest/biceps? I do chest/biceps now instead of chest/tris.

Do a chest, do a bicep, repeat. I work my tris on my leg days.

as long as you're working shoulders, traps, upper back, lower back, legs, triceps, etc etc then I don't care how you split it up

but this smells like the frat routine to me

I rather not but my new training partner thinks its a good idea. Personally I rather not do any other upper body workout when I'm doing chest. Doing legs or abs in between sets Is how I normally do my chest routines.

Chest involves pushing muscles (triceps, pecs and shoulders) while curls and variations on that exercise involve pulling muscles (biceps)...

    So, what's the problem?

    QUESTION:

If you do biceps first, do you get more of a burn from your chest workout (since your supporting muscles wont be quite as strong and provide as much support in the workout?)

nothing wrong with it to be honest

training tris and chest the same day may risk overtraining, same with back and bi's.

Training the different muscle groups on separate days may work. I wouldn't be grossly opposed to it.

Just don't do biceps 3 times a week or anything

Well it's a good way to get one of the three muscle groups. Remember, you have:

    1) Chest
    2) Biceps
    3) Chest & Biceps

Now some will say that there is a 4th group, Biceps & Chest, but that's just ridiculous.

But to be safe, yeah, do that too.

You'll get better results working chest and back because of the antagonistic muscle grouping.

Or you could work Back and Biceps on the same day and get equally good results but for different reasons.

Another option would be to work Chest and Tri's.

Either work similar muscle groups or antagonists and you can't go wrong. Simple formulas work best. Bear in mind you're looking for functional fitness as well as looking good.

there's nothing wrong with it. give it a try for a few months and see how it works.

some people respond better to antagonist training (working opposite muscles ie chest/bi, back/tri) and some people respond better to synergistic training (chest/tri, back/bi)

not so much since biceps aren't as integral to benching. doing tri first on the other will have a bigger impact. Pur suggested a pre-exhaustion type setup on the leg day of his stickied routine. it was fun :o

On a slightly more serious note, I like combining biceps with chest.
    It used to something like:
    lower body
    back
    chest/ biceps
    delts/ traps/ triceps
