Best Way to put on some pounds without whey?

    Im a newbie to the f&n board, im bulking, ordered some whey protein and carbo gain and was making weight gain shakes, but i cant seem to put down the whey protein, i end up throwing them up. I keep eating as much as i can but i dont see the gains i want to see, i have yet to try those 1000 calorie drinks but is that my next option or is there anything else i can do besides eating and eating?

    i tried the recipe for 1000+ calorie shake

    1 cup oats
    2 cups milk
    2tbsp nat. pb
    2 scoops whey
    1 banana
    1tbsp olive oil

    took me 35-40 minutes to put down the bitch and it was so thick...never did that again. plus all the milk got me sick...so adding more to thin it out wont help any.

    just drink the whey with water and chug it quick and drink some water afterward

    Im eating 4 solid meals a day with snacks in between, i think i can work on my breakfast a little bit tho.

    I did my on vanilla whey with vanilla ice cream, vanilla extract, and a little milk, it just didnt sit well. I'll try whey with water again, i couldnt keep it down when i drank it a year ago but it was trader joes whey.

    try using lactose free whey isolate and replacing the milk in the shake with OJ.

    I drink this recipe (minus pb) twice a day...one for breakfast & one before bed. Takes me about 30 seconds to chug. Been doing it for the past two months.

    Increase the amout of liquid you use when you make them and don't try to drink them that fast. :dunno:

  11. just drink cytosport. they make muscle milk. get the cytogainer. it is the weight gaining formula. with 4 scoops of cytogainer you get more calories and about the same protein then you'd get with 2 scoops of muscle milk and it's less thick than the 2 scoops of muscle milk. i just drink about 4 of those a day in between the day but be sure to get the biggest tub of it since it will only really last you ~ a week. you will drink it and you will like it.

    Gained 14lbs in about 10 weeks doing the 5x5 workout.

    The 5X5 workout combined with cramming 2500-3500 calories a day along with the protein shake is ultimately bound for results.

    Not all whey protein is created equal. What brand were you using ?

    I prefer whey with just water, I can down it quicker and it is just tastes nicer and less thick

    1 cup oats
    3 scoops whey
    2 tbsp honey
    2 tbsp flaxseed oil

    Blend with water

    around 500 calories

    Thats your problem right there, vanilla whey tastes like shit. Everyone I have tasted tastes like clay, shoot for orange, bananna, chocolate, or chocolate mint, from allthewhey.com ;) good stuff

    thanks for it...i cut the amount of oats in half and only used one tbsp with peanut butter and its not as thick so im going to be drinking those for now on...i'll just eat the other tablespoon of peanut butter with some honey :)

    And yeah, it takes 2 minutes to drink and isn't even that thick.

    How many ounces of water? I like that recipe. I also find milk is too hard to down fast its really thick and sometimes it makes my stomach a bit uneasy. Water is the way to go.. by the way I think that shake is more than 500 cals.. how about this one:

    1 cup oats
    3 scoops nlarge2
    2 tbsp flax oil
    2 tbsp of peanut butter
    blend in 16-24oz water

    total cals: 1346

    what do you guys think?

    Thats ok, Im up about 10 lbs in the past two months and have had some gains in lifting, I'll keep on lifting.
