now i've got another problem. i'm creating a slide show using pictures from digital cameras. high quality pictures varying in size; 1728x1170, 3264x2448, 2592x1944, 1600x1200.

the problem is that windows movie maker apparantly downscales everything to 640x480, making the pictures lose their wow factor (which is very important in this case).

are there any movie or slideshow programs you would recommend? keep in mind i need to add music.

    thanks for the help!!!

a standard stereo rca female to 3.5mm stereo male cord will let you record the audio.

is there a way to add background music using powerpoint? i know you can add music to individual slides but for the music to keep playing throughout the slideshow i would have to get the exact time that each slide lasts and divide the music up so it would pick up perfectly where the last slide left off.
