    Can't decide if its:

    'The Longest Day'
    'Saving Private Ryan'
    'Black Hawk Down'

any others? Tears of the Sun was a great movie for squad dynamics and Band of Brothers was an incredible miniseries, but what about movies?

I am not sure which one would be best. I think We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson should be considered as well.

Platoon, glory, das boot, tora! tora! tora!, braveheart, gettysburg, apocalypse now, band of brothers(I know not really the same thing but damn good).

Quasi war movies: Full metal Jacket, Deer hunter.

I like you're first three as well.

    Platoon
Full Metal Jacket (the first half)
    Apocalypse Now

I think those are the top three.

Also, Hamburger Hill is pretty good.

    Apocalypse Now bar none

Full Metal Jacket was so great, but I dunno if I'd consider that a war movie really. Still, great movie though

1 vote for Saving Private Ryan.

Not a movie - but miniseries, HBO's Band of Brothers was pretty good, on par with SPR.

ok well if we're talking fantasy wars, then yeah, sure I vote Star Wars.

But as for real wars, I'll vote for Platoon, Glory, Braveheart and Last of the Mohicans (French and Indian War). Those were all pretty awesome.

    Bah The Patriot! Soooooo biased.

Anyway, Saving Private Ryan is mine. Though Platoon is probably my favourite Vietnam movie.

I forgot about Tigerland. That movie was pretty tight. Although they never actually fought in the war, it was all in the training camp.
