    Hey all...

my wife currently has a 2001 Olds Silhouette (top of the line, can't remember the designation) with a little over 100k miles on it. We are looking in the next month or so at trading it in for a small to mid size SUV. She has expressed an interest in the Honda Pilot, but I was curious if there were better options in our price range of <$28k. 4 cyl is ok, but would rather have 6. 2wd is ok, but 4wd would be acceptable if within the budget. We are looking at buying a new one with full factory warranty, but could possibly consider a program car or the like if the savings were substantial enough.

I took a look at the RAV4 and the Highlander briefly today and she has also mentioned liking the TrailBlazer. If any of the SUV crew could shed some light on my little puzzle, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Rainier says $32k for the 6... I didn't even look at the v8.

under $28k is the goal here.

WORST SUV you can buy when you consider how amazingly overpriced it is!

Minus well get the 4Runner or just get the Pathfinder for the same cash. Otherwise, get an Xterra and match the FJ in specs, and save $6,000.

good information. Does the CXL only come in AWD, or is it just coincedence that the dealer in my town only has AWD used?

Never mind. I just realized the Rainier only has seating for 5. That's the latest necessity... seating for 6+. We found out this week that a new addition to the family will be here within 6 weeks.

She was wanting to get away from the minivan, but it looks like we are drifting back in that direction.

haha. I know. It's not so bad really... as a taxi.

I could probably afford the vehicle, and maybe the increase in insurance rates, but the way she stomps the gas in her van, there's no way I could afford to keep gas in a Yukon/Tahoe. ;)

a Yukon gets the same mileage as the other SUVs that you're looking at!

Honestly, the Yukon with the 5.3L is going to get the same mileage as smaller SUVs with the 6cyl.

If you have that kind of seating need, just get a Honda Odyssey.

I can't believe you guys like the Rainier over the Envoy.... I mean the Buicks are nice, but the Envoys have a bit more muscular look IMO. That's why we've got two of 'em:

The CXL has 7 passenger seating. They're kinda ugly, but are nice in all.
