Ive been looking at guns at a local gun store in Austin. They have skyy cpx1's for 260. Is this a decent gun and also any suggestions of other guns less than 300 dollars.

    Thanks

It's a P3AT knockoff.. sort of. The guy that owns Skyy is shady as fuck. There were people who masqueraded as customers raving about his product that turned out to be employees of the company.. he left Kel Tec under bad juju, and took some shit with him. Skip Skyy.

Under three hundred you're limited badly.. another hundred will widen your choices a lot.

    Sub 300
    Star BM 9mm
    CZ-52 7.62x25
    Bersa Thunder .380
    P3AT..

    if I had to go under 300, I'd go a used ruger P series, or a P3AT

    I think the CZ 82s are sub 300, too, but it's 9x18, I think.

If you can get $400 or a bit more together your choices will widen up quite a bit, You can find used Glocks and XD's for around $430ish, I think the Rock Island 1911's go for just a hair over $400.
Is it going to be for conceal carry, or home/range use?

Rock Island 1911 might work good for you then close to your price range but if your looking for something inexpensive I'm guessing you'll probably want something cheap to shoot too? heres a RIA 1911 http://www.centerfiresystems.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1083

Heres a couple others that'll be a bit cheaper to feed, FEG9mm http://www.centerfiresystems.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1273

The rock island might go for a hair over 400 once you factor in all the fees and taxes, I got mine around last december for 330.

yes, I got one about 10yrs ago and it's functioned well. I got the two tone model and it was $329 so I'm sure the regular blue finish should be around $300 or less. 9mm btw

+1 for 92fs, although the cheapest I've seen in decent condition was $350.
