I've been sitting on the pot about getting a bike for the past 5 years. I've finally made up my mind to drop the load and do it. The thing is though, I'm fairly short in stature being 5'5''. I have HEARD (from no reputable sources) that it's not so much your height as your weight on a bike which means I should be good because depending on my bulk/cut cycle I fluctuate between 180 and 200 (most of the time I hover around 190 because I swim alot too).

Anyway what would be the best 600cc, 2005 and up, that would suit a person of my stature the best. I do plan on going and taking a seat on all of them but I figured I'd get a good idea before I go around and do so.

If it helps, I'm kinda partial to the GSXR, R6 and Daytona 675 (though they're hard to find used).

Before the whole "blah blah blah, 600's are bad for begginers" thing. I'm experienced enough on dirt bikes, have driven a standard since I started driving 13 years ago, and I drive very conservativly.

If you have enough experience, it doesn't really matter. You just have to get used to not being able to have both feet down.

That being said, I have an 02 f4i, but they kept making them til 06. I'm 5 8 and I can have both feet firmly planted on the ground. I have to admit though, the seat is pretty uncomfortable, even for it's sportsbike, but it's bearable. My friend's 06 zx6r is like an inch higher maybe. i can get both feet on the floor, but not firmly.

Good taste though, bro. The daytona is freaking sexy.

if both feet can't touch, you should do something about the seat/suspension to get them to touch.

I would get the Daytona in a heart beat if I could find one used. I think it's by far the slickest looking rocket around. Not to mention, besides the Italian bikes, they're the rarest to see on the road. I really don't know why more people buy them. To my understanding they're lighter, and therefor, more manuevarable than their 4cyl japanese counterparts.

    Says you.

It might make it more comfortable, but unless your feet are several inches off the ground, it's mostly comfort that you're sacrificing.

no, says anyone who knows anything about safety

yes, comfort is the only thing you're giving up when you have to pull up next to a curb to stop........ if you can't touch with both feet, it's SAFETY that you're sacrificing, not comfort.

btw, here's a good resource for motorcycles for shorter people

If I had a dollar for every time I've dropped a bike because I lost my balance standing on one foot I'd have at least enough money to buy a big mac value meal, maybe even supersize that bitch and add an apple pie. Those were dirtbikes that have been wrecked/dropped/jumped/etc.. not in the middle of traffic. I'd hate to be the jackass who dropped his bike standing on onefoot at a stoplight. Its also possible that when the bike is so big that you cant touch down properly that you aren't big enough to throw the bike around properly.

one of the biggest problems that i see is moving the bike to back out of a sport is going to fucking suck let alone back it out of a spot slightly uphill have fun. I barely flat foot my bike so when im moving it i have to tippy toe it and it sucks a big one

Lowering bikes isn't a big deal. Mate has a gf who has had multiple different bikes lowered (CBR, GSXR, etc, always 600-750s), and as long as it's done properly, you barely notice the handling difference.
