    Overspeed training
The easiest way to do this is to run down a hill as fast as you can, make sure the hill is atleast 60-70 metres long though. Try to find a grass hill as opposed to running down a street, and the hill shouldn't be too steep either..just a moderate slope. and be sure to stretch out your hamstrings very well before this. Do 3 sets of this and 3 times each set...you can also try the rubber band technique, but thats how I tore my hamstring

Work a lot on the launch. Some like to push off. I prefer to stand up. The faster you get off the blocks the better off you'll be. In the beginning you should use leg drive to power up to speed. In the middle you hold the acceleration while at the end you maximize stride length. Work on improving each part. This is specifically for the 40 but I'm sure it can be adapted to work with the 100 :dunno:

i recommend buying martin rooney's 40 yard dash book just for the mechanics of the set up...

as far as a training protocol goes, it is a little of everything: form running, intervals, starts, overspeed, resistance, shock, etc.

search with google... it's an amazing resource.

i'm also a sprinter (100, 200, 400m) and mostly weight training right now. here are a few articles that i like...

    Tom Green's - Overall Workout/Outline
Ato Boldon - excellent sprinter and best video resource (except for carl lewis's site, but he was a douchebag and took his videos down)
    Excellent lil Speed Article

    good luck.
