    :bigthumb:

i've been doing it more now lately...

but im still trying to get my ears adjusted..

but if i upgrade my speakers, are component speakers that much better then say just a pair of 6x8 infinity speakers?

It really depends on the speakers you upgrade to. Some coaxial speakers sound better than some component speakers and vise versa. It's really a personal preference thing.

completely disagree. how can a set of coaxials sound better than a set of tweeters and mids crossed over. Unless ur doing custom components and Xover a component set is the way to go.
and always power speakers with an external amp, internal amps = poo

well i want to think economically because my system right now has already cost me around $800

so what are some good 6 x 8 speakers for the front and rear

i dont think im going with components because i do not want to purchase another amp

generally 6x8s = 5x7s... you probably own a ford, no?

anyways - infinity kappa or infinity reference used to be some nice coaxials.

Uh, do you even know what a coaxial speaker is? It is a midrange with a tweeter mounted coaxially. So, basically it is a component set with the tweeter in the center of the midrange. In fact, there are several sets I've seen in the past that transform from a coaxial speaker into a component set by simply screwing a cap on the pole piece. I will say that USUALLY the component set's are made better than coaxial, but certainly not always.

Internal amps aren't bad if you don't plan on listening very loud.

In fact, I prefer a coaxial because they have superior sound off-axis dispersion characteristics when compared to a component set. And when you consider that you arent going to be listening on-axis, IMO they are a better choice in many cases.

your right, but as u know a crossover will seperate the power given from the amplifier. and ill will seperate the frequencies which yeilds better sound and high volumes.

tru but who doesnt like to listen to it loud ;)

    all in the install :o

A coaxial speaker CAN have a better crossover than a component speaker does.

And in most cases, a crossover with less components will be louder all other factors equal...

are the Xovers built in or something? Ive had infinity reference coaxials before.(which had no Xovers..?) When switching to Crystal components it was a huge difference. From the people i talk to and what ive learned components are always better than coaxials. Why are components so much more expensive than coaxials if theyr just as good? Not arguing, just asking.
