I agree with you somewhat...but when the climax of the song hits...doesn't it wake you up?!

Whenever I want to be lulled to sleep by music, I always reach for 'A Storm in Heaven' by The Verve. Perfect music for drifting off.

I agree with you on a A Storm in Heaven, I haven't listened to that album in ages but I remember it being supremely chilled out and relaxing. I've found Pink moon by Nick drake to be quite relaxing before bed as well.

the whole Donnie Darko album...... i actually ripped my copy, and burnt a new one without the two songs with words in them at the end.

throw that in, you'll be out in no time.

Selected Ambient Works by Aphex Twin has always been a good one.

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis also.

    Dream Theater - Space-Dye Vest
    Tool - Disposition
    Metallica - Unforgiven
    Opeth - Windowpane
Aphex Twin - anything from the Selected Ambient Works albums
Aphex Twin - anything from the Analord albums
Porcupine Tree - Arriving Somewhere But Not Here
Queens of the Stone Age - Go With the Flow
    A Perfect Circle - 3 Libras
    Led Zeppelin - No Quarter
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon album (though the begining of Time may wake you up)
Pink Floyd - The Wall album
    Nirvana - Unplugged album
Detsl - Moscow (may also be named Moskva) Warning: Crappy Russian Rap, but really chill
    Anything by Bob Marley
    Any type of smooth jazz
Any light classical stuff, mainly stuff that's played in minor

That's pretty much my general list, some of the songs are good and some are bad, but all are pretty chill and good for going to sleep.

I find instrumental stuff good, like certain soundtracks (Donnie Darko, Fight Club, etc.), and Explosions in the Sky is good as well
