right now i use the energizer NiMH 2500mAh ones and they are great. long life, works fantastically in my 580ex, dont have to order them online because they are super readily avaiblble at any local store. but time has come to buy alot more batteries (picking up 3 vivitar 285hv's) has come. i think i will stick with the energizer NiMH unless there is something substantially better. as for a charger ideally, i want something that will charge 8 batteries at once, and can do a hard charge in 15 min.

does any product like this exist?

Probably the best reasons for having it:

Select different charging current for each channel
Automatically switches to trickle charge when charging is complete to ensure maximum battery capacity
Automatically defaults to 200mA charge (the optimal setting for prolonging battery life)

i was loooking at that charger for a while, but if i wanna do 8 at one time, i gotta buy 2 of them bitches. fug....80 bucks.

as for the batteries, i was thinking about going hybrid NiMH, but waiting till they had higher mAh's and come down alot more in price.

I have a duracell 15 minute charger, it even has a fan in it to cool the batteries off, it was $25 but only charges 4 at a time, it's still pretty badass

I use the same 2500mah energizer batteries :o

ok, how many sets of 8 aa bateries at $15 a set do you have to "save" to make a $80 charger more cost effective than a $20 one?

i'm not getting upset or anything, i'm just asking some honest questions. paying $40 for the charger from amazon is more sensible and i'll probably order one after christmas. :o

I've heard the enloops are good if you don't use your batteries just after you charge them. They have a low self discharge rates. For non-stop constant shooting shortly after you charge the batteries though, go with the energizers.

    .

i heard that eneloops if used constantly will discharge and need to be discarded in 4 months of constant usage. My energizers get used daily on rotation for the past 9 months.

i just got some eneloops for $14.99 at circuit city today, so fast these have the fastest refresh times on my sunpaks, i had 2500mah energizer and they were slow, very slow, hence me buying the eneloops today

costco has a great kit with 8 AA's, 4 AAA's, a charger, and two C & D "adapters" that you just stick the AA's into. It's pretty slick, and is only like $40.
