best program to create custom desktops in?

    if anyone could let me know...thanks..also what resolution do i want to make it in..to make it more user friendly? alright thanks...if anyone could post a pic of theirs that would be great..thanks...

    don't use "old" resolutions of 800x600 or whatnot. Go for 1024x768, and 1600x1200. As for apps I'm no expert, but I figure photoshop and illustrater have a place.

    Yea, I'd use Photoshop (well, GIMP actually, but close enough) if I actually had the skills required to do desktops.

    As for resolutions, hardly anyone runs at less than 1024x768 anymore, most of us are at 1280x1024 or 1600x1200.

    do u want to design desktops or mod yours? there's StyleXP, winblinds, to name 2 off of my head.

    i would keep min of 1024*768. i know i have a hard time finding res at 1280*1024.

    oh, whats a monitor widescreen res? im just currious.

    Not to hijack a thread, but what window manages do all the *nix people use? I've used KDE for far too long, and I'm thinking either sawfish with gnome 2.2 or enlightenment.
