    Hey guys and gals.

I used to be very into photography, and actually have a BA in Art-Education with an emphasis in digital media and photography. But since graduating, and becoming part of the "real world" Ive lost track of things.

Im still running the first digital Ive ever bought. A Olympus 3040z 3.4 MP.
Outstanding camera, and ahead of the game when new. I remeber shelling out more than $800 for the entire package.:noes: But it just isnt cutting it now-adays.

Id like to pick up a new camera. But dont want to break the bank.

Ive shopped around the local camera stores, as well as places like Wallmart, and Staples. But I just dont know anything about anything anymore.

Id like to here some suggestions for digital point and shoot cameras. :wiggle:

But I have a few requests:

    *Must have a fast lens.
*Id like a "normal" sized body. The new miniture cameras just are not easy/comfirtable to manuver with my big hands.
*must be in the $150-$250 range.
*Id like to stick to Olympus, nikon or cannon. But will consider others.

    Thanks for any help :)

And my decision to purchase came after almost 3 straight days of researching PnS cameras. Again I am COMPLETELY satisfied!!!!

    Fantastic.

Im checking out some sample shots and the reviews on Steve's Digicams.

It doesnt have the fastest lens available, (my old Oly. has a F1.8), but it does look like a sweet camera.

    Thanks for the tip:)

F1.8 is how far the aperture goes.

I guess by speed you mean the auto focus speed?
Or how fast it can snap off shots?

A "fast" lens is one that handles low light well.

The lower # the aperture, the larger the opening. The larger the opening, the more light the sensor can read during a set exposure.

oic, threw me off when you said fast.

yeah I think the A620 is 2.8 max
Its ISO only goes upto 400 also.
I normally keep it at 50-100
Its not really a low light camera but it does ok with a stand.

I have some long exposure nite shots I can PM you if you need some samples.

Sure, Ill take a look at some shots. Ive been known to do a good amount of low light work, so having a fast lens is somewhat important.

But if the sensor on this camera is more resilient to "hot pixels", I might be able to get away with it:) My old Oly, even when new, whenever Id try an exposure longer than 8 seconds or so, Id get hot pixels. Hot pixels are pixels on the sensor that get too hot during long exposures, and create white dots on the image.

I have used the a620 and really like it.
if you can swing it, go for the s2.
hopefully I will be getting the s3 at the end of the week

:) It is/was a nice camera. I still use it, and love it, but IMO the sensor is starting to age. Images just dont pop like they used to.
