So I contacted transworld mx last night and they said that they are going to put me on the list for a media pass for the first round of the AMA motocross nationals.

So I'm super fucking stoked, :bigthumb: but now I need to find a place where I can rent a 300 2.8L. :run:

I called calumet in santa ana, and they said it was $70 a day and I think I'll need it for two days. Anyone know of a better/cheaper place than that? :dunno:

Any help opinions would be great. Thanks.

i used rentglass.com once. good stuff, your rental doesnt start until the package is delivered to you and ends when you mail it back with the prepaid stuff they send with the lens.

    Sounds good, but they don't even have a 300 2.8 :sad2:

Call around to your local camera shops. We have one in my city that rents a 100-400 lens for $30/day or $45 for a weekend.

is the event on a weekend? Most camera shops consider a weekend 1 day, so you pick up friday afternoon, return monday morning for a 1 day charge.

I know of a ritz by me, but they dont have rentals. Other than that, I really have no idea. Looks like calumet would be the way to go.

I also have a friend from school that has a 1D2 that I was going to see if I can borrow and give him some cash.

    So then I'd have two 1D's, one with a 300 and another with a 70-200/17-40 combo :x:

Nice. Does that sounds like a good combo, or do you think I could get away with using the 70-200 and 17-40?

If I could, I'd go and get a couple more gigs in cards for the event.

never shot autos of any kind :o

I'd call them to make sure about the rate, but every place I have rented from that was the deal, including samys down there.

Motocross, but I totally forgot about samys. I called and they have IS and non IS. Ten bucks difference. $45 or $55 for the weekend.

    did you call samys camera?
    edit:
i just called them, and they said it's $45/day for it, and $55 for the IS model.
Also, if you pick it up friday after 3pm, and return on monday before 11am, they'll only charge you 1 day's rental fee.

    Yessir.

I think that's what I'm going to do. I know Garth Milan and Simon Cudby shoot with the 300 quite often, so I think I'll rent that bad boy for the weekend. :naughty:

I looked there, but I dont need the lens for a week and I'm not about to drop $186 when samys can do two days for $55 :bigthumb:

I've known the senior editor at the mag for a little while and we're friends.

I emailed him off and on about some events. I either got the media pass or I didn't. This time, he said he'd put me on the list so I'm praying it all works out. :x:
