So yeah, ive been unemployed for a couple months now, and am looking to just start doing something because my job hunt through my major is going terrible. nobody is hiring. market sucks, you all know the deal.

one thing i consistently have found myself liking is helping others, even though most PT's are fuckin morons, trust me i know, but it could be fun for a bit at a nice gym and a good way to fuck older blonde smashpigs and be a creep by making them do the good girl/bad girl machine all day long and get paid for it.

soooo. whats the best way to get a good certification? a lot of people told me the ACE?

    I think you'd do a good job.

PT from what I can tell is about selling yourself to people. Most people are shallow and want their trainer to look godly regardless of how much knowledge the guy/girl has. In your case, I think you'd back up your physique nicely with knowledge and experience for people.

    win/win go for it dude.

there's 8 accredited certifications - ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, NCSF, NESTA, NFPT and IFPA. My exercise physiology professor from a few years ago used to put ACSM and CSCS (one of the NSCA subtypes) after his PhD so I guess those would be the better ones. of course theres a million diploma factories out there that'll print you a cert for $20 and most people probably can't tell the difference

Go for it. You look the part and have a good amount of knowledge.

I've toyed with the idea of personal training on the side when I graduate business school but I can't imagine an accountant having enough time on their hands to do that stuff in their first few years in the career field.

I think it'd be cool to be a teacher at a University and PT part time during the year at nights and then PT full time in the summers. Talk about a cool life.

i think simple said he's workign 60-70/h work weeks right now (but its tax season so obviously busy)

depends what route you go, my cousin works for a construction company and puts it 40h work weeks then during year end/busy times it goes up. But he's allowed to work from home.

doing that would actually be sweet cause more university profs have a good pension/retirment benefits and pt u could make some good dough.

how many years left do you have of school?

Less than a year left. I "should" graduate November of 2009.

Hoping to do the CPA exams that summer. Not sure which field I will go into yet though. Whoever offers me a decent job first I suppose. Eventually, I'd like to specialize in tax or cost.

I find it fascinating that people enjoy doing anything tax related, different strokes for different folks I guess.

I like the idea of giving people every single chance they can to get their money back from the government.

Too many people don't realize what deductions and credits are available and what is allowed to be expensed. I like the idea of helping inform them what opportunities they can utilize.

That being said, there is a lot of downside to tax too. But it's still better than amortizations and bond ledgers. Talk about asking for a bullet in the head.
